Comparing Lunchboxes

Piper and Kolton start school this week! The summer has flown by a little too quickly. With school approaching we set out to find the perfect lunch box for our little preschoolers, we’ve found we love the Bento Box style lunch boxes the best because they cut down waste  (no expensive zip baggies thrown away!) and are easy to clean!

We’ve found the following lunch boxes to be great for different reasons. Here they are:

Bentgo Kids: Bentgo Kids is a light-weight lunchbox with small compartments that are perfect for a large variety of foods in little portions. Our 3 year olds love the color options, blue, green and purple. Give Piper literally anything purple and she’ll be happy. These boxes are also great when we are on the go for our mini (14-month-old) toddlers. We love them because they are dish washer safe and leak proof! These are great for young children with little appetites and fit well into a variety of soft lunchbox cases.

They can be found at Target and we’ve even seen them on Groupon.

Cost approximately $28

PlanetBox: PlanetBox is a little more of a splurge for a lunchbox. This one is definitely Kolton’s favorite. He got so excited about his box that he came home from school with it 100% empty, eating all the foods that were packed for him! The box is made from stainless steel and keeps food cool for hours. You can purchase decorative magnets separately to customize the lunchbox. Kolton picked rocket ships and Piper chose rainbow unicorns. This box is also dishwasher safe and easy to open and close for our preschoolers. It has a 5 year warranty and is meant to last! The box only fits into the carrying case sold by PlanetBox, with it’s own cold pack, and they have several different options with fun patterns and colors.

PlanetBox is sold at Pottery Barn Kids and can be found on Amazon.

Cost approximately $60 (for box only) $86 for the whole set.

Takenaka Bentgo Box: The Takenaka Double Bento lunchbox is great for us mamas who always forget we need to eat too! Perfect for packing a sandwich and salad to eat at the park while the little ones play or even bring to the office. They come in a number of fun colors and are sleek in their simple design, dishwasher and microwave safe!

Can be purchased through Amazon.

Cost approximately $38

Welcome back to the school year!
